Who Is PAL?
Officers Mentoring and Guiding Youth on their Journey to Becoming Successful Adults
PAL Chapters across the nation serve approximately 2 million children between the ages of 5 and 18 in a variety of activities.
The Minneapolis Police Activities League (PAL) was established in 1995, and today have approximately 1500 Minneapolis youth
participate in its programs.
All youth residing in the City of Minneapolis are eligible for participation in Minneapolis PAL programs at no expense to them or their families. Over eighty percent of the youth served by Minneapolis PAL are ethnic minorities. The racial make up of Minneapolis PAL’s active membership: African American 53%, Native American 13%, Caucasian 13%, Bi-Racial 11%, Hispanic/Latino 3%, SE Asian 1%, Other or Not Stated 6%. Of the approximately 1500 youth in Minneapolis PAL has 400-500 are active in more than one event or sport activity.
All the PAL programs involve police officers as teachers, chaperones, mentors and camp counselors. There are approximately 200 enthusiatics volunteers that comprise of police officers, firefighters, civilians and parents of the youth who make the Minneapolis PAL Chapter a success.
